About The Playground
Matteo's Dream - A Playground for Children of All Abilities, one of the country's only playgrounds where children unable to walk, see, or hear can play safely alongside children who can, is located in Concord. The biggest playground in the city, Matteo's Dream, is situated in Hillcrest Park and opened in May 2007. This playground results from a collaborative effort between the city, community groups, and businesses.
The playground is designed to accommodate children of all abilities, including those who are blind or have low vision, deaf or hard of hearing, mobility impairments, and cognitive disabilities. The equipment is specifically chosen for its ability to challenge children with different abilities.
For example, the ground level of the playground has a Braille panel so that children who are blind or have low vision can enjoy playing. The equipment is also designed to be tactile so that children who are deaf or hard of hearing can feel the vibrations of the swing while they play.
Matteo's Dream Playground is a place where all children can come and play together. About The Foundation
Matteo's Dream Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 2006. The foundation's mission is to build playgrounds where children of all abilities can play together. The foundation has built several playgrounds around the country, and they are always looking for new ways to make playgrounds more inclusive for all children. Facilities And Accessibility
The playground is located in Hillcrest Park, and it is fully accessible for children with disabilities.
